…………is a Kathak dancer who was very passionate about Kathak. Even the tabla players would give up, her feet would bleed, but she would not stop dancing. She was just 16 when MP government gave her scholarship for being the best kathak dancer. She also travelled to Moscow for a show during the same time.
She was a science student, still when she showed her obsession towards kathak, her parents didn’t stop her. On the contrary, they were very supportive and encouraging. Around this time she met son of a family friend who she started dating. Boy’s south Indian family was not keen on this relationship as it was intercast. But after 4-5 years parents bent down and tied their knot in a very simple and minimal ceremony.
Anuradha was so keen on chalking out here place in the new family that she wanted to give it her best shot. To achieve this she quit something she loved the most,dancing.
For 10 years her only connect with Kathak, was the dance classes which she used to organise for kids. After the death of her mother in law and father in law she turned back to kathak. Meanwhile her only kid had also grown up and she had time to pursue her first love again.
By the time she got her life back on dance track, she had new challenges ahead. She was totally cut off from the system, ailments like contracted kidney and high BP caught up. Still she refused to give up and conquered her dreams. She has performed more than 200 shows, raised funds for tsunami relief and she is still going strong.
