Raji Ben, who was married off at a very early age came from her village in Gujarat to the city of Ahmedabad with dreams in her eyes; dreams of a great future, dreams of a better life; but her world came crashing down when she had no other option but to pick wastes and rags just to make two ends meet.
However, she proved the idiom right; when the going gets tough, the tough gets going, as Raji did all that she could in order to feed her family and give them a better life.
A chance meeting with the SEWA Sanstha changed her life. Not only did she join SEWA but also inspired other women to do so.
Today she owns her own Stationery unit that recycles waste paper and makes world calls stationary, which is not only used in India but is also exported all across the globe.
Raji Ben proved to the world that if you can dream it, you can achieve it.
She is our Shree Shakti who has inculcated new lives in millions of homes and has seen to it that women are self dependent and have taught them to live a life full of self respect and pride.
We salute our Stree Shakti Raji Ben.
The episode also has well known singer Shibani Kashyap dedicating a song to Rajji Ben and women like her, and notable anchor-actor Puja Gour who shared her experiences of struggle with the guest and audiences.
