Jagmati Sangwan, All India Democratic Women’s Association general secretary, is someone we are all proud off.
She broke norms and stared playing volleyball first at the state level and then went on to represent India at International meets as well.
She even took part in the Asian Games, which were held in India in the year 1982.
Now all this was not as easy as it may sound because she belonged to a conservative farmer family from Butana village in Sonepat district.
She was the only girl to walk against the tide, stand up for the right of women in sports and achieved great heights.
Jagmati Sangwan, Jaggu or the Smash Girl of Haryana, as she is addressed stands tall with all her achievements.
Today she is working towards giving girls an equal opportunity to play a sport that they desire to.
Film maker Ashwini Chaudhary, got the national Award for his Haryanvi Film “Laado” which he says – that he was inspired by Jagmati when he thought of makingthe film.
On the occasion of Women’s Day, we salute this great woman achiever who has inspired a lot of women to come in the forefront and achieve a name not only for them but also for our country.
Jagmati Sangwan is a true Stree Shakti in every sense.
